Welcome to the Melbourne Triathlon Club
Established in 1981, the Melbourne Triathlon Club (MTC) is the oldest Triathlon Club in Australia. With a growing dynamic group of members, we focus on providing athletes of all ages and standards with access to great triathlon and multi-sport coaching and training programs. Supervised club training sessions are provided by Fluid Movements, MTC's preferred coaching provider. All training venues are safe, challenging and within close proximity of a good café.

PORT MAC IM - SUCCESS
Port Macquarie is meant to have fantastic sunny weather at this time of year so MTCers were shocked when it rained pretty much for three days straight upon my arrival. Thankfully race day saw the team being able to swim in what was silty fresh water instead of the clear salt water we experienced last year. For those new members that are not familiar with the Ironman Australia triathlon, it consists of a 3.8 km swim, 180.1 km bike and a 42.2 km run...yes all on the same day!

This year saw 23 MTC members give it a go and there were some truly impressive results and race day 'war stories'. We also have three members going to the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii: Brendan Holland, Kristy Hallett and Jacinta Collier (who is a first time Ironman, won her age group and almost set an age group record!). There were only 70 Hawaii spots available so to come away with 3 of them is a real credit to our club coach Sean Foster of Fluid Movements. Sam Pollard had a tough day of it though and in the end, despite a gallant effort needed to pull out due to injury - commiserations to Sam, hope to see you there next year.

Active Feet: In-store Event

This is the next 'Seminar' event we are having, but it is going to be held in a more interactive manner, with everyone getting a chance to have their run gait assessed by a podiatrist. Risk Ostler is going to be there, and as an active triathlete, understands running on bike legs.

When : Tuesday 13th January at 6:30pm
Where : Active Feet Store, 477 High St Prahran
What is going to be covered:
- Discussing the implications of shoe choices and injury risk, lifespan of a shoe, how to use a racing flat effectively and any other questions that you may have.
- Each person has the opportunity to be assessed individually (there will have several Podiatric staff members there to assist)
- An opportunity to purchase footwear should an athlete require at a special discounted rate on the night: everything will be 15% off including training shoes (As a rule Active Feet do not discount training shoes in their normal trading).
- Some drinks and nibble food will be provided.

There will also be a group run leaving from the shop at 5:45pm for those wanting to fit in an aerobic run prior to the in-store.
